Lashing out at BSP supremo Mayawati for indulging in opportunistic politics, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi had criticized that BSP was full of opportunists, turncoats, discards, party swappers and persons of dubious background. Leaders with penchant for such things can not serve the people although this gives them chance to help themselves, Rahul Gandhi had said during his recent campaigns for the UP Assembly elections. Inviting the attention of the people to the rampant corruption and lack of development in the state, Rahul Gandhi had said that only power brokers and touts flourished during Mayawati regime. “Her government became a trading company which struck deals with corporate and rich persons at the cost the people” alleged the Congress leader. “She forcibly acquired lands of poor farmers and resold to the builders as it happened in Bhatta-Parsaul and Thappal. Her ministers such as the biggest corrupt and former Minister of Family Welfare Babu Singh Kushwaha made away with MNREGA and NRHM funds and benefits of welfare scheme did not reach the poor” alleged the Congress MP from Amethi. Arguing that Mayawati’s opportunistic politics is for Mayawati’s benefit only, Rahul Gandhi appealed to the people to vote for Congress (I) in their own interest. The Congress General Secretary assured that Congress would work for the betterment of the state future of the people.
