We promise development, not freebies: Rahul Gandhi

Criticising BSP, SP and BJP for offering free gifts to the people in their manifestos to seduce voters on the occasion of Assembly elections, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has tersely said ‘we promise development in the state which would equally benefit all.’ Taking a potshot at these parties he said they are offering only empty promises since they had failed to fulfill even their earlier promises in last 22 years. What the state needs is a clean, accountable, responsive and effective government, said Rahul Gandhi while campaigning for the ongoing Assembly elections. Good education for the students, employment for the youth, easily availability of agricultural inputs and remunerative prices for the produce to the farmers and health care for everybody is what by Congress (I) is promising.  A progressive UP state with lot of developmental activities will provide gainful employment to its youth as well as unleash their potential for creativity and innovation. He urged the people to vote for Congress (I) to make this possible and assured that his party would not disappoint them.

Rahul Gandhi: UP will be back on No. 1 under Congress

Criticising BSP, SP and BJP for pushing the state backward under their rule, AICC General Secretary RahulGandhi has said Congress (I) will make UP No. 1 state, if it is voted to power this time.  “Uttar Pradesh which once used to be the leading state of the country will be again developed into No. 1 state if Congress (I) is voted to power,” Rahul Gandhi said while campaigning for the ongoing Assembly elections. The state has got all the resources it needs, its’ people are talented and hardworking; then why there is no development in UP, asked Rahul Gandhi. It is only because of the unprincipled, opportunistic and caste based politics of these parties that there has been no development. Instead of undertaking development these parties indulged into corruption of the worst kind.  Highlighting that for these parties race for grabbing power has been more important than the welfare of the people and development of the state, Rahul Gandhi urged the people to vote for his party. He assured that the people of UP will start seeing remarkable development taking place only in next five years.

Rahul Gandhi in Jewar: Mayawati ignored plight of farmers

Charging Mayawati for hobnobbing with corporate builders and rich companies to fulfill her greed for money, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has said she ignored plight of farmers while forcibly acquiring their lands.  For the farmers land was their only source of livelihood which she scornfully ignored, Rahul Gandhi said while addressing public meetings in Ghaziabad and Jewar (Noida) on February 23 for the ongoing Assembly elections.
Farmers were not informed that their land was being acquired; they came to know of it only when builder’s bulldozer reached the farmers’ fields, he further said. When Rahul Gandhi challenged this unjust policy, Mayawati overnight changed land acquisition policy. Now she is opposing new Land Acquisition Bill in the Parliament to harm the farmers.
Again while Congress (I) led UPA government has made provision of fertiliser subsidy for farmers, Mayawati has not made that available to the farmers. Similarly while highbred seeds have not been provided to the farmers to increase agricultural yield, Mayawati has sold state owned sugar mills thus putting the farmers at the mercy of private sugar mill owners.
Highlighting that the only way to come out of this bad situation was to put Congress (I) in driver’s seat in Lucknow, Rahul Gandhi fervently appealed to the people to vote for Congress (I) to make this possible.  He assured that his party would provide responsible government which would follow pro-farmer policy.

SP and BSP misguiding people of UP: Rahul Gandhi

Launching a scathing attack on parties like SP and BSP for promoting casteism, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has accused them of misguiding the people of Uttar Pradesh.  While Mulayam Singh Yadav of SP is misleading the Muslims to grab their votes, Mayawati is cheating the dalits and poor by claiming that their future would be secure only with BSP. These leaders have been deceiving the people over the last two decades with such tidbits. Pointing out that Yadav sometimes demands 18% and other times 28% reservation quota for them he could not provide any quota for them while Congress (I) did secure reservation for them, said Rahul Gandhi.  During a public meeting in poll bound state he said Mayawati’s claim that future of daliits and poor is secure with BSP is ridiculous adding that her magical elephant ate up all the money of the poor. Urging the people not to trust these parties any more, he said a government of the poor by Congress (I) will work for development and welfare of all people alike.
