Mayawati wants only power, people’s issue never her agenda: Rahul Gandhi

Highlighting the awful neglect and backwardness the state of Uttar Pradesh under the non-Congress rule, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi had said that Mayawati is interested in remaining in power and not in the progress of the people of Uttar Pradesh.  The state remains at the bottom of the economic and social ladder in the country, had said Rahul Gandhi while addressing public meetings in Gorakhpur and Azamgarh as part of his Congress campaign in the state for the recently held Assembly elections 2012. Pointing out that neither promises nor speeches can bring in changes, the Congress MP from Amethi had said it has to be worked out with visionary plans, committed pursuit of policy and dogged efforts. Rahul Gandhi argued that Mayawati had utterly failed to do so and added that instead she used this opportunity to make money. Arguing that long neglect and backwardness has now pushed development issue to the fore, Rahul Gandhi had also said that development can certainly solve the people’s problems like unemployment, lack of health care services, lack of quality education, problems of bijli, pani and sadak. Highlighting that Mayawati has repeatedly failed to deliver on her promises, Rahul Gandhi requested the people to support Congress (I)  to form government and assured them  that his party would transform the state into No. 1 position in the country.
