Congress reaches out to the people in their hour of need: Rahul Gandhi

Attacking non-Congress party leaders like Mayawati and Mulayam Singh Yadav for not going to the people to understand their problems, AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi had said that only Congress reaches out to the people in their hour of need. “Mayawati is your Chief Minister for the past five years. Mulayam Singh Yadav was your Chief Minster thrice. Did any one of them come to you in the past five years?” asked Rahul Gandhi while addressing a public meeting in Hardoi recently as part of his Congress campaign in the state of Uttar Pradesh.
“When the people in the drought-hit Bundelkhand were crying, I had visited the region,” said the Congress General Secretary and added that neither Mayawati nor Mulayam visited the people in distress.  How then these parties could talk of the people or the development without going among them and talking to them, Rahul Gandhi further said. “Although it was the responsibility of state government to help its people yet Congress (I)-led UPA government made available a relief package of Rs 8,000 crores to help the people of Bundelkhand” informed the young Congress MP from Amethi.
“But the money was swallowed by BSP elephant sitting in Lucknow and the poor people got nothing” concerned the Congress leader. Asserting that these parties were not interested in the welfare of the people, Rahul Gandhi requested the people to vote for change and assured that a Congress government will put an end to all the miseries of the people of Uttar Pradesh.
