Attacking Mayawati and Mulayam Singh Yadav for cajoling the people over the last 22 years with false promises to grab power in the state, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has said people are no more interested in promises. The people needs good governance and development as it is directly connected with their daily lives, said Rahul Gandhi while addressing a public meeting in Jaunpur on February 12 for UP Assembly elections. Speaking straight from his heart, he said he was not here to make promises like other political parties. “When one has clear intentions, he need not make promises,” he further said and added “I have not come here to make promises but to take UP on the path for change and I am sure that we will win this battle.” Blaming BSP, SP as well as BJP for neglecting the state for "not doing anything to build the future of the state's youth, he said Congress (I) is committed to the cause of UP’s development. Highlighting that issues of the people and development of the state is more important for Congress (I) than the elections, Rahul Gandhi assured the people that his party if voted to power this time would change the face of the state and they would be able to see the change in next five years which other parties failed to being in last 22 years.
