Opposition violates democratic traditions: Congress

To put a different view in Parliament is one thing and always welcome.  But to create disruption which has often been created by opposition in Parliamentary work is disappointing and dismaying to say the least. Public feel that the opposition parties were not elected to do this ‘Tamasha’.  Congress has been engaging with opposition to find a way out of the stalemate so created by the opposition in the Parliament. Let it be clear to everybody that it is not the responsibility of the Government alone to run the Parliament smoothly, it is the responsibility of each and every political party. If the opposition felt they would be able to pressurize the Government by disrupting the proceedings of the Parliament, it was against the democratic traditions. It should be the responsibility of all political parties to ensure smooth functioning of the Parliament. There should be a healthy debate in the Parliament and the peoples’ representatives should set an example before the entire nation.
