Rahul Gandhi slams ‘umeed ki Cycle’ slogan of SP

Launching the fifth phase of his campaign for Congress for the upcoming assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh All India congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi said that the non-Congress parties who ruled the state for the past 22 years put full stop on development in Uttar Pradesh.

Rahul Gandhi slammed the Mayawati Government for the utter misuse of Central funds. “This is the money of your sweat and blood. This money is not of the Congress party, SP, BSP or Rahul Ji. This money is the result of hard work of farmers and labourers from UP in Maharashtra, Delhi, Haryana and Punjab. If the country is developing it is because of your efforts, your blood and sweat,” said Rahul Gandhi amidst applauds.

Taking on Samajwadi Party Rahul Gandhi continued “I saw the poster ‘umeed ki Cycle’ on my way. You voted for Cycle for three times. Three times Mulayam Ji was your Chief Minister. But your trust got punctured three times. It punctured your future. It promised development but the goons were running the police stations. No one was able to file FIR in police stations. How can you trust Cycle again?” he argued.

Mayawati deprived poor the benefits of Central schemes: Rahul Gandhi

AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi while campaigning for the Congress in the poll bound Uttar Pradesh lashed out at Mayawati and her BSP Government for usurping the central funds meant for the welfare of the poor.

Hitting out against Mayawati for large scale frauds in Central schemes like Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee (MNREGA) and National Rural Health Mission (NRHM), Rahul Gandhi has said she deprived the poor the benefits of these welfare schemes.  The Central government money addressed to poor people was swindled by the ministers of Mayawati. Rahul Gandhi said poor feel cheated by Mayawati government which claims to be working for them. Congress (I) leader highlighted that recently Union Minister Jayaram Ramesh had stated that there had been massive corruption in MGNREGS in UP and the Health Minister had also said that another Rs 3,000 crores were swindled from NRHM funds. Congress (I) leader said people showed full confidence in BSP but did Mayawati come to you or heard your problems?  To change this bad situation it is necessary for people of the state to get rid of Mayawati government, said Rahul Gandhi.

Rahul Gandhi: People anguished by misrule and corruption in UP

Lashing out against UP Chief Minister for remaining apathetic towards the common man, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has said the situation in the state will not change till the casteist parties like BSP of Mayawati and SP of Mulayam Singh Yadav are given a cold shoulder by the people. “I have visited large parts of UP in the past few weeks, particularly eastern UP, where ‘FDI in retail’ and the Lokpal Bill were not the issues concerning the daily lives of people. The misrule and corruption in the Mayawati government and the rule of criminals during the previous Samajwadi Party rule were much bigger and relevant issues for the people” said Rahul Gandhi.  Mayawati during 2007 elections promised to provide bhrashtachar mukt sushasan (corruptionless clean administration) but what gave was most corrupt administration the people had ever experienced.
