Rahul Gandhi: “I am here to change Uttar Pradesh”

Hitting back on the leaders of parties like BSP, SP and BJP for terming his visits to the houses of the poor as drama, Congress (I) general secretary Rahul Gandhi has said these leaders have neither any worthwhile agenda nor any public issue to talk about. “I am not here to win elections. I am here to change Uttar Pradesh, he said while addressing public meetings for Assembly elections l2012. ‘If mixing with the people to understand their problems and issues affecting them is a drama, I will continue with this drama throughout my life,” he further said. He asked the audience what these leaders know about the problems of the poor people because they never visited their houses; these leaders have never drunk water from their hand pumps to feel the real taste of the life the poor are going through, he said.  Highlighting that the opposition leaders who call him a kid have no information about politics, Rahul Gandhi said while only his party is sincerely working and attending the issues of the people these leaders are indulging in mocking and jeering others to deflect the attention of people from the real issues. Pointing out that these leaders have miserably and repeatedly failed to fulfill the aspirations of the people, Rahul Gandhi urged the people this time to give a chance to his party to form government and assured that it would work for the welfare of the people and transform the state. He promised that the people would be able to see the change for themselves in five years.
