Lashing out against Mayawati’s BSP and Mulayam Singh Yadav’s Samajwadi Party for ruling over the state for the last 22 years without making any appreciable changes in the life the people, AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi has said Congress (I) Party’s self-evident actions prove that it can put Uttar Pradesh back on the track of development. “Tell me one state which has not developed under Congress (I) rule,” asked Rahul Gandhi to the audience during election campaigns for the ongoing Assembly elections. Pointing out that these parties have been fooling the people with false promises, he said Congress (I) does not need to make such promises and ‘his actions will show that he can bring development in the state.’ “In the past 22 years, non-Congress governments were only involved in corruption and scams,” he further said and asked the audience whether these leaders ever visited any villages in the past few years. Highlighting that Congress (I) always maintains connect with the people, he said, “I have been reaching to the poor in their villages and houses to understand their problems. In response to their needs Congress (I) has crafted progressive policies like MGNREGA, generous loan waiver for farmers, relief package for Bunkars, increased subsidy for the farmers.” Rahul Gandhi urged the people to vote for Congress to bring development in their state. He assured that Congress (I) will provide corruption-free, transparent, responsive government and put the state on fast track development. “You will be able to feel the change in the next five years,” he added.
