UP polls: Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in Unchahar, Raebareli addresses election meeting

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra who campaigned for Congress in Amethi and Raebareli requested the people to elect Congress candidates for bringing back development in Uttar Pradesh. While speaking at an election meeting at the Unchahar assembly segment in Raebareli, Priyanka Gandhi said that non-Congress governments which ruled the state for 22 years blocked the development in the state and as a result the state of Uttar Pradesh slipped backward.

UP needs development not promises: Rahul Gandhi

Asking the people to say goodbye to BSP and SP for having done nothing for the state, Congress (I) general secretary Rahul Gandhi has said people of UP need accelerated development to catch up with lost time.  These parties have wasted 22 years of the people by holding out empty promises and pushed the state backward, Rahul Gandhi said while addressing a mammoth public meeting at Jewar, Greater Noida. “I am not here to make any promises but to work for development of the state,” he said and added “I will be spotted on the roads and in the villages frequently.” Referring to Bhatta-Parsaul and Thappal brutal incidents he said, “The farmers of UP gave their sweat and blood, and in return their land was forcibly taken away. When they asked for a fair price, bullets were fired upon them.” Pointing to rampant corruption, unemployment and lack of development in the state, Rahul Gandhi said, “I am here for a long haul and will not leave until UP is up on its feet.” He urged the people to vote for his party to accomplish his mission for development of UP. Assuring the people, he said, “We will take your voice to Lucknow and make it heard there.”

Attacking Mayawati for running most corrupt government in the country, Congress (I) General Secretary RahulGandhi has blamed her for encouraging looters and scamsters in her reign. National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) funds were openly looted by scamsters and ministers, Rahul Gandhi said while campaigning for the ongoing Assembly elections. Race for loot of the funds was so intensive that it led to murder to three government doctors dealing with the funds.  NRHM scheme was sponsored by the central government for improving medicare services in Uttar Pradesh by dotting the state with polyclinics and hospitals equipped with latest medical equipments. But the benefits of the NRHM scheme never reached the poor.  Instead the money was looted by ministers of Mayawati. People kept on protesting against the loot but Mayawati looked to the other side. Highlighting that Mayawati had failed to curb corruption, Rahul Gandhi urged the people to say good bye to her.  He appealed the people to vote for Congress (I) and assured that a government of the poor by Congress (I) will work for their welfare.
