Rahul Gandhi in Allahabad, talks about Dalit’s issues

Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi, who was on a one-day visit to Allahabad, interacted with Dalit writers and activists at a seminar in the city. He also met with Dalits in a slum cluster. Rahul Gandhi went to the Malin Basti in Pura Padaain in the Kumbh Mela area and interacted with residents and assured his full support to find solution for their grievances.

At the seminar on “Dreams of neglected communities in a democracy” at Gobind Ballabh Pant Social Science Institute in Jhunsi, Rahul Gandhi spoke on various aspects on why Dalit representation in politics was inadequate.

According to Prof Badri Narayan, head of the Dalit Resource Centre at the GBPSSI, which organised the seminar, Rahul Gandhi talked about various issues related to Dalits. “Rahul Gandhi talked about issues like ticket distribution, where just a few people at the top manage things. He said such practices will not ensure adequate and proper representation. He also dwelt on issues of migration as a necessary requirement for the development of any section of society, including the Dalits,” he said.

Rahul Gandhi also launched other development projects also in the city.

Priyanka Gandhi can definitely play big role in Indian politics

“Reject the leaders who reject you,” is what Priyanka GandhiVadra kept on telling the people during her campaign in Uttar Pradesh for the recently held assembly polls. This statement talks volumes. She expressed disappointment over the bad state of affairs in the state of Uttar Pradesh. She had examples to list out to prove what she says was correct. Whether it is the case of electricity related issues in Raebareli or the issue of dilapidated roads in the region, she could pin point what is lacking in the state. She could convince the people what was going wrong in Raebareli, the constituency of her mother, Sonia Gandhi.  The people became very clear that the development works in their constituency is not reaping the expected benefits despite the sincere efforts from their MP Sonia Gandhi, because of the careless attitude of the non-Congress state government. Definitely Priyanka Gandhi had substantial evidences to prove her point. Same is the case with Amethi too, the parliament constituency of her brother Rahul Gandhi.

Yes, Priyanka Gandhi knows well how to convince people. The people give her a patient hearing. They loved to interact with her, talk to her and they feel happy to have a glimpse of their favourite leader. Like her brother Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi also loved to go to the people, interact with them to understand their grievances. She also argued that the leaders should go to the people to know their issues and if a leader stops going to the people, she asked the people, to reject him. She is right. In democracy the real power is in the hands of the people. That is what she always tried to tell the people.

When Priyanka Gandhi was given the responsibility to look after the affairs in Amethi and Raebareli during the last UP assembly polls, she could handle it in a quite appreciable manner. All her public meetings - she preferred to address small gatherings at maximum places – attracted a good number of enthusiastic crowd. No one can be blamed if they compare her with Late Indira Gandhi. Priyanka Gandhi, they say, is having the same charisma and potential, quite similar to late Congress leader – Indira Gandhi.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra had urged the people to ‘think properly and intelligently before casting your votes” - a clear message to remind the people about the strength of votes. She could help people to learn about their role in a democracy. They could realise after listening to Priyanka Gandhi that if people want a change, they can do so. That is the strength of democracy and the importance of elections, people told themselves.  That is what our democracy needs to strengthen itself and that is what Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has been effectively practicing.

Sonia Gandhi in Raebareli stresses for the need of education

Congress President and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, who was on two day visit to her parliamentary constituency Raebareli had said that maximum people should get education for the overall development of the country. While addressing the function to lay the foundation stone for the project of strengthening and broadening works of two roads on the National Highway 24 B in Indira Gandhi Auditorium at Firoz Gandhi PG College, Raebareli she also highlighted various polices of Congress-led UPA government at the centre for education.

 “There is no end for duties and responsibilities in our life and in the similar manner there is no end for the efforts for development of our country. The moment we accomplish a scheme, we can always see new avenues for development.  We see new possibilities at each turn. It has been our sincere efforts to design new policies and schemes for the welfare of the people and to make the lives of the people more comfortable,” said Sonia Gandhi.

“The UPA Government at the Centre has implemented a number of welfare schemes aiming for the welfare of every section of our society and many people are reaping the benefits too. I think that society and the nation can move forward only if maximum people are educated. Education is the key for a better and bright future. The UPA Government at the Centre, has therefore, taken some strong steps in this direction. Approval has been given for one model school in every block and 75 percent of the cost is being given by the UPA government,” said Sonia Gandhi

The Congress MP further informed, “In Uttar Pradesh money has been provided for 148 schools. In Raebareli district too, the works are in progress for three model schools and the permission has been given for a Central school in Bachcharawa. Permission has been given to start all primary sections at the Central School in Gora Bazar which would be very much beneficial for the children in Raebareli.”

Rahul Gandhi to visit Allahabad

ALLAHABAD: Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to visit Allahabad on Wednesday to attend various programmes organised by different institutions.

UPCC spokesperson Jawed Urfi said that Rahul Gandhi will arrive at Bamrauli airport on Wednesday afternoon and straightaway head to Kamla Nehru Memorial Hospital (KNMH) where he would be dedicating Micro Selectron HDR Brachytherapy Equipment and Oncentra Master Plan 3 D External Beam, IMRT TPS for Cancer Treatment machine to the nation.

Rahul Gandhi will also inaugurate the Rajiv Gandhi wing in the hospital comprising ICU 8-bed, nephro dialysis unit fully air-conditioned and 6-bed daycare and 6-bed post operative ward. Besides, he will also inaugurate the 11-bed Jawahar Ward for Paeditaric Cancer.

The Congress MP from Amethi will go to Govind Ballabh Pant Social Science Institute (GBPSSI) where he will take part in a Lokgyani conference. The theme of the conference is 'Democracy and dreams of the marginals'. Intellectuals of various marginalised communities and community leaders involved in the emanicipation and social reform of grassroots will participate in the seminar.

Rahul Gandhi will also attend an interactive programme 'Sangat' during the concluding session of the seminar.
