Rahul Gandhi: Congress talks of people irrespective of their caste, religion

Slamming non-Congress parties - BSP, SP and BJP, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi had said unlike these parties which put up big slogans to befool the people, Congress (I) believes only in action. “We do not talk of religion or caste; we talk about people irrespective of their caste or religion; we talk about good governance and development of the state,” said Rahul Gandhi while addressing public meetings for the recently held UP Assembly elections. “We do not hanker for power like other parties do; we work for welfare of the people whether in or out of the government,” added the Congress leader. That is why seeing the plight of the poor and unemployed in the rural areas UPA government launched rural jobs schemes to ensure 100 days employment to rural poor. “We provided waiver of Rs. 60,000 crore worth of agriculture loans despite skepticism of opposition about it,” said Rahul Gandhi adding “We managed to do it because we believe in honoring every commitment.” Highlighting that while Congress (I) is sending welfare and development schemes with necessary funds one after the another the leaders like Mayawati and Mulayam Singh Yadav have been looting the money thus depriving the people of the benefits of such schemes. Appealing to the people to give chance to Congress (I) to form government in the state, Rahul Gandhi promised that it would put in place a system to ensure that the benefits of the welfare schemes reach the people and money for development is expanded on earmarked works.

Poor and Dalit did not get any benefit under Mayaraj: Rahul Gandhi

Taking a jab at Mayawati for her claim that she is a Dalit leader, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has said she deprived dalits and the poor of MNREGA benefits which Congress (I)-led UPA government sent for their welfare.  She grabbed the votes of dalits to come Chief Minister but once in power she shut the door upon them, Rahul Gandhi had said while campaigning for the recently held UP Assembly elections. Keeping in view the alarming situation of unemployment in the state, center sent MNREGA scheme for providing guaranteed employment to the poor.  Massive amount of Rs 60,000 crores was released, said Rahul Gandhi adding that MNREGA is a flagship program of Congress (I)-led UPA government.  It provides guaranteed minimum 100 days employment @ Rs 120 per day to the poor, thus putting 120 x 100 = Rs 12,000 in the pocket of the poor, informed the congress leader. It gives employment, income and respectable social status to the poor, added Rahul Gandhi. But she stole the money and the poor did not get anything. Highlighting that this scheme is a tremendous success in Congress (I) ruled states like Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra, Rahul Gandhi said Mayawati enriched herself at the cost of the dalits.

Remove corrupt BJP from power in Karnataka: Rahul Gandhi

Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi on Saturday gave a call to the Congress workers to oust the corrupt BJP government from power in Karnataka.

Addressing a huge gathering, organised by the youth wing of Congress at Nehru Stadium in Hubli, Rahul Gandhi came down heavily on the ruling BJP government in the state. “Central government provides crores of rupees to the state for various developmental works. All these funds get swallowed by corrupt BJP leaders here,” Rahul Gandhi said. “Youth wing of Congress party should continue its struggle against ruling BJP, until it brings Congress party to power,” added the Congress leader.

The Congress leader said the youth wing of the party is elected through elections and the democratic process is successful in both state as well as national level. “That’s why so many people are attending the function here. This unity must continue until we secure victory in next assembly elections,” Rahul Gandhi added.

Rahul Gandhi urges Congress workers in Karnataka to work as a unit

Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi on Sunday urged the Congress workers to work unitedly to come back to power in Karnataka.
Rahul Gandhi who was on a two-day visit to Karnataka, interacted with members of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), DCC and Block Congress Committee presidents.
During his 60-minute interaction with the members, the Congress leader took their questions on various issues including, strengthening the party at the grass root level.
Rahul Gandhi appealed the Congress leaders not to discriminate between senior and juniors for party work. Those present on the occasion included KPCC president G Parameshwara, party Karnataka in charge Madhusudan Mistry, Union Ministers Veerappa Moily and Mallikarjun Kharge.

Only Congress is concerned about the issues of minorities: Rahul Gandhi

Criticising Mayawati and Mulayam Singh Yadav governments for not providing due benefits to Muslim minority community, Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi had said that these non-Congress parties did not take steps to fulfill the aspirations of Muslim minority. These non-Congress parties do not talk about poverty and lack of education among the minority, they only talk about caste and religion, Rahul Gandhi had said while campaigning recently for the UP Assembly elections. Congress (I)-led UPA government appointed Sachar Committee to study socio-economic problems of Muslim community and recommend suitable measures for improving their situation, informed the Congress leader. For the first time certain districts have been identified where Muslim minority lives in substantial numbers and minority-specific programs for those areas are being implemented in Congress (I) ruled states, further said Rahul Gandhi. But in UP non-Congress government did not implemented them. Arguing that only Congress is concerned about the issues of minorities, Rahul Gandhi urged the people to vote for his party and assured that Congress (I) would work for entire people without discrimination of caste or religion.

Rahul Gandhi to visit Karnataka to revive Congress

Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi will be undertaking a two-day visit to Karnataka from June 2 in a bid to revive Congress and to formulate the Congress’s strategy for the 2013 assembly polls in the state.
He will attend the Youth Congress national executive committee meeting in Hubli on June 2. After the meeting, Rahul Gandhi will participate in an interaction session in which he would meet senior citizens, intellectuals, retired officers and Jnanapeeth awardees, and seek their suggestions to make the administration more responsive.
On the second day of his tour, the Congress leader is scheduled to visit Davanagere where he will interact with all elected members of Congress, including members of municipalities and other local bodies. Rahul Gandhi also will address a gathering of about 5,000 elected representatives. The Congress General Secretary will hold discussion with senior leaders and executive committee members of KPCC.
After lunch, Rahul Gandhi will hold an interaction session with students. The state Congress sources say that Rahul Gandhi’s visit will boost the morale of the young in order to build the nation on the lines of secular and progressive line.

Non-Congress patties in UP exploited the resources and had fun, forgot poor: Rahul Gandhi

Launching a blistering attack against non-Congress parties like BSP, SP and BJP for dragging the state of Uttar Pradesh backwards over the last 22 years, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi had said that these non-Congress parties have misused government funds and bid their time in fun instead of working for the welfare of the people and development of the state.

All non-Congress Chief Ministers in the last two decades thought that people of UP were fool and they had no understanding of their own, Rahul Gandhi had said while speaking at a public meeting in Jewar, Noida recently as part of his Congress campaign in the state. “They have been making false promises to the voters of UP and come into power. And once they come into power all they do is exploit the resources and have fun,” further said Rahul Gandhi.

It is time to stop this rut and the people’s need for progress and development must be respected, added the Congress General Secretary. Arguing that that the only way forward to free the state from all these miseries was to help Congress (I) to form a Government in the state, Rahul Gandhi urged the people to vote for Congress (I) to make this possible. Rahul Gandhi assured a fast track development under Congress and said, “Give Congress 5 years and we will show you what we can do. We will change the face of the state and you will be able to see the impact in five years.”
