Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in Bachharawan talks about schemes of Congress-led UPA Government

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is addressing an election meeting in Bachhrawan (Raebareli) during her poll campaign in Uttar Pradesh. She said that non-Congress parties – SP, BSP and BJP – did nothing for the development in UP. They believed in a negative politics based on caste or religion, said Priyanka Gandhi. Rahul Gandhi lashed out at rampant corruption of BSP Govt

AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi while talking at a public rally as part of his Congress campaign in Uttar Pradesh said that there has been rampant corruption under Maya raj in Uttar Pradesh. Rahul Gandhi explained various scams, corruption and misuse of funds by the BSP Government.

"The NRHM scam is a reflection of the level of corruption under the present regime," Rahul Gandhi said. The Congress General Secretary exuded confidence that development would be back in UP if the people opt for a pro-poor Congress Government in UP. “If Congress comes to the power issues like education and health would be addressed on a priority” said Rahul Gandhi.  The Congress leader also rapped the NDA government for its India Shining slogan which, he said, was "nowhere close to reality".

Castigating Mulayam Singh Yadav for his opposition to 4.5% quota for Muslims in government jobs, Rahul Gandhi said: "The opposition by both Mulayam and Mayawati have exposes their factual stance on the welfare and upliftment of Muslims." Holding ruling party ministers, MLA's and party workers responsible for gobbling up funds worth Rs 8,000 crore sanctioned for Bundelkhand, Rahul Gandhi said "this speaks volumes about their insensitivity towards the plight of farmers and common man in the Bundelkhand region".

Rahul Gandhi then asked "How many ministers are there in Maya cabinet from Bundelkhand?" When the crowd replied five, Rahul Gandhi said: "Think, all of them are facing corruption charges." Rahul Gandhi also questioned the SP and BSP leaders for laughing at his night halts at villages, and said: "If they had cared to do the same during their tenures, they would have realized the real issues of the people."

Rahul Gandhi’s highly interactive speech struck an instant chord with the gathering that reciprocated their warmth and thunderous applause.

Rahul Gandhi: UP needs a Congress Government to ensure welfare for all sections

Rahul Gandhi repeated that the non-Congress rule in the past two decades destroyed the state of Uttar Pradesh and the state is now placed as one of the most backward states in the country. All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi said while addressing a public rally at Rath in Hamirpur district of Uttar Pradesh held the non-Congress parties responsible for the bad state of affairs in the state. Rahul Gandhi added that UP wants a Congress government at present that is committed to work for all caste, religion, aam aadmi, poor, minorities, dalits and adivasis.

“The first thing Congress-led UPA did was to implement MGNREGA, the biggest employment guarantee scheme. It guarantees jobs to every poor. Congress made this policy after going to the people and asking about their issues. The poor people had told us that there were no jobs available in the villages. By this biggest scheme every poor is assured with jobs. 100 days of work is ensured at a daily wages of Rs. 120/- thus amounting to Rs. 12000/- a year,” said Rahul Gandhi on UPA’s Mahatma Gandhi NREGA policy. “But Mayawati says that there is no benefit for the people of U.P by the MNREGA. You may ask people of the Congress ruled states like Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Haryana, Delhi, Mizoram or Assam and everyone will tell you about the benefits of the policy.”

“When Congress made this policy, the opposition asked from where we can have money for the scheme,” informed Rahul Gandhi. “This is the money of your sweat and blood. This money is the result of hard work of farmers and workers from UP in Maharashtra, Delhi, Haryana and Punjab. If the country is developing it is because of your efforts, your blood and sweat,” said Rahul Gandhi. “Congress ensures only one thing. It returns the money received from the people,” argued Rahul Gandhi.
